Ms. Oates began practicing real property law in 2004 and joined O’Kelley & Sorohan Attorneys at Law, LLC as an associate attorney in 2005. Ms. Oates was named a Member of O’Kelley & Sorohan in 2012 and currently manages the Peachtree Corners and Johns Creek offices for the firm. Ms. Oates has a strong law and economics background and now focuses her practice primarily in the areas of residential and commercial real estate with an emphasis on real estate transactions, title clearance, and contract drafting and review. She has developed and taught several residential real estate continuing education classes and works closely with real estate agents, lenders and investors.
Ms. Oates graduated with “Honors and Distinction” from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her Juris Doctor from the George Mason University School of Law. Ms. Oates is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia and the District of Columbia Bar. Ms. Oates is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia.
Ms. Oates has served on the Governing Board of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Gwinnett and on the Professional Development Committee of the Georgia Association of REALTORS®. Ms. Oates is an affiliate member of the 400 North Board of REALTORS®, the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS®, the Georgia Association of REALTORS®, the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Georgia and the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Gwinnett. Throughout her years practicing law, Ms. Oates has been active in several organizations including the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, the Housing and Land Use Section of the District of Columbia Bar, the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorneys Association, the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women, the Peachtree Corners Business Association, the Johns Creek Business Association and the American Land Title Association.
